Hand Stitched Necklace Review

As I have hinted at before, life off-line has been distracting as we “wait and see” on a number of health issues.  I ended up doing a little retail therapy and purchased a kit from Red Gate Stitchery on etsy. I do not usually wear a lot of jewelry, and when I do, I keep it simple: a pendant necklace or bracelet, stud earrings, my wedding & engagement rings. I forget if I first came across the Red Gate Stitchery kits on Pinterest or just browsing Etsy, but the simple style really appealed to me. I like how you can customize the piece with your own design, or follow a guide to have the design shown in the picture. Purple and hearts have taken on a whole new meaning for me, so I decided to go with the “Embroidered Purple Heart” necklace kit.

necklaceI placed my order on Wednesday and it was here waiting for me on Saturday! It didn’t have to travel far as Red Gate Stitchery is based out of Massachusetts! We were watching a movie with the kids and my hands were itching to do something crafty, so I started working on the kit. Not even 1 hour later, I was done! I’m not a fast stitcher and I was interrupted by my kids. That picture was taken seconds after I finished it. I love it! I ordered a purple kit, but two additional colors of floss were included which I thought was really nice, if you wanted to customize your design. There are many really neat designs and I would buy from them again: this bookmark kit is very sweet, and wouldn’t these buttons be so sweet on a baby sweater?

This has given my cross-stitch mojo a bit of a boost. I would like to get back to my Once Upon a Time Sampler, but first I will be tackling a small sampler for a swap. I am a bit nervous about changing the colors, but I think it will work out ok.
