Selfish Sock Knitting

The Knit Girllls podcast is having a year-long self-striping yarn knit along. Each month there are several dyers from which to choose. The first few months I had yarns in my stash! I was browsing for the June option and decide to purchase a skein of Poste sock yarn. It’s a new to me dyer and the colorway, “That 70s Kitchen”, seemed appropriate.

I was expecting a bit more Scooby-Doo colors, more orange and less red. Now that the socks are complete, I hope they will grow on me. It matches this page, “Rebecca, established in the 1970s” pretty well. My parents gave me this book, it’s full of facts and figures from the year you were born and now that you are 40!

Sock Update

I still have the sock knitting fever pretty bad. the last socks I blogged about were the two pairs I made for my kids. 8 more pairs (including the ones shown above) have made it to my sock drawer, and 1 more pair went to Nate. I’m going to need another sock storage solution!

Clockwise, starting at top left: Charming Quarks, Trailing Clouds in May, SKA May 2018 Mock, Kinetic Energy Socks, Rainbow Tubes for Nate, Year of the Dog, Deeply Distracted Socks, and Simple Skyp Socks. The Mock sock has a bit of lace, and the Skyp socks have a stitch pattern, but otherwise, these are all plain vanilla socks and I like the Fish Lips Kiss Heel. It fits my foot, I have it memorized, and it’s done so much faster! These last few months there was a lot of time spent at swim lessons, little league baseball practice, and a rainy Girl Scout campout. They continue to be a perfect project when I’m brain-tired too. I’m eyeing my stash and the leftovers for knitting up shortie style socks this summer.

Happy Birthday to me!

This is a milestone year – the start of a new decade. I’m a little bit of this, a mix of deer in the headlights, but ok whatever vibe. Hey, this outfit matches my socks!

I’m also a lot of this, hey alright! Let’s kick back for today. Simply enjoying.
