When life gets busy, you tend to let some things go. For me, this blog took a backseat while other items needed action. All is well, it’s just been a really busy six weeks or so. Do I have anything to show for this time of distraction? Yes!
I knit these Laule’a socks in Malabrigo Rios, the Lotus colorway, while on vacation up at a cabin in Vermont. The fairies rule there and enjoy tea parties. I brought several projects for the trip, but these moved along so quick they were finished in a weekend! I have already worked them in to my handknit sock rotation and will make more of the worsted weight variety, because socks in a weekend! I tend to update Instagram most frequently if you are interested: it’s my knitting and crochet, Jackson, the kids, the world around me and Pinterest fails. All good things.
I have almost a dozen works-in-progress, including a new sample knitting job and the #shockstarKAL that started on Instagram today. And because I need more distraction, Rhinebeck is this weekend! Each year I find that my crafty mojo gets a nice little kick of motivation after attending. This year, I did not make a Rhinebeck hat to match my SnB group. I haven’t been a regular member there for over a year, so I feel a bit like cheating if I make their hat. I’ll be wearing my Solitude Dots Hat that I made from the kit I bought last year. Will you be there? I’d love to say Hi! I do have a bit of a shopping list for the first time in several years.
- Specific: I’m looking for one more skein of Appalachian Stone or Bee Balm O-Wash Sport from O-Wool, as I want to make the Follow Me shawl by cabinfour, but do I want grey with a pink stripe? or pink with a grey stripe?
- General: I hope to try a few new breeds from Solitude Wool, Targhee in particular.
- Vague: I’d love to find self-striping yarn. I’m very open to a new kit for something in a gradient.
I’m also looking forward to meeting a few folks, and finally putting faces to names I’ve only talked with through email and phone calls.
What’s been distracting you lately?
Glad you’re back! Not too many distractions, for a change.
Glad to see you back! And I love those socks! How do you find sample knit jobs? That’s something I’ve been thinking of doing for ages, but I have no idea where to start.
