Cookie Swap Rookie

I was invited to an event for Girl Scout troop leaders over the weekend. It was a nice evening of dinner and meeting new people and getting a bit of training on the upcoming Girl Scout Cookie Sales (if you’re looking for a cookie fix, I can help you out!). I’m not a troop leader just yet – I have a few more steps to go, but I am on my way! Part of the evening included a cookie swap. Now, I am one of those people that didn’t do Christmas Cookies as a kid.  Maybe we decorated a few, and I know my mom brought cookies home from work functions, but it wasn’t a big deal – to have to make them or eat them or whatever. I do enjoy participating in a good cookie swap though – I’m always impressed by the variety of cookies and how amazing it is that there never seem to be duplicate cookies. How does that happen? Anyway, I went to Pinterest for some ideas and kept seeing Christmas Crack recipes and variations.

I remembered I already had that recipe, hand-written and given to me by my Nana, only she called it Saltine Cracker Treats.  I am not sure where she got the recipe either, but I remember first having it at her house during the 1990s. Thank you, Nana – this was easy, fairly quick, and was chosen as the “top cookie” at the swap – not bad for a rookie! Elf and Cookies

I bought home this lovely and delicious assortment. Notice my little Tiny Elf is hoping in the photo! He was finished up this weekend and has been finding fun places to hang out. My daughter has already laid claim to him when I am done with all the picture taking.
