I’m feeling pretty good about the knits this week. I have my first FO of 2016, a pair of Cindersmoke Mittens! So often I knit out of season, but it’s been very cold waiting for the bus with the kids and there’s a big snow storm coming (do you have your bread and milk stockpiled?). I used my skein of Ancient Arts Fibre Crafts Big Squeeze Bulky, in the “A Midnight Clear” colorway. I loved the shade of blue when this was in the skein, and really love how the pattern, a double moss stitch, allows the tonality and shading to show through. It really is a great representation of the night sky – I totally got it last night when I took Jackson outside – the sky was clear, there was moonlight, and all the shades of blue in the sky.
My Spiral Cowl received a bit more attention thanks to train knitting when I went to VKLive. The Yaksi is nice to knit with, I’m hoping a quick bath will soften it a little when it’s all done. Mary Poppins is finished. I enjoyed reading it, but this might be a case where I like the movie more than the book. They are quite different and I think I’ll stick with the Disney version. I’ve just started You’re Never Weird on the Internet (almost) by Felicia Day. It’s funny and snarky and I want to be her friend.
the mittens are cosy-looking
