I have a finished object to share and it’s not socks, surprise! I have a new sweater! Just in time for the colder weather set to arrive next week, I present the Snow Thank You sweater.
I love everything about this sweater. The construction was new to me (sort-of top down with an afterthought neck!) and seamless. I’m a big fan of designer Megan Williams and for sure, this will not be the last pattern of hers I knit!
The yarn is Three Irish Girls Springvale DK in Stepping Stones (1 skein) and Hydrangea (3 skeins). I have plenty of each leftover, though I did have a moment of panic when I thought I would be playing yarn chicken on the cuffs. I tossed the swatch into the washer and dryer to check for color bleeding and it was all good, even coming out of the dryer just fine. For the full sweater, I did let it soak, drain, and spin in the washer and I laid it flat to dry. I really wanted to finish this sweater before casting on for my NaKniSweMo project and I did, success all around.
I don’t make a lot of sweaters as I have had trouble with fit or a good style for my body. Bonny is more of a tank top and less of a sweater, Stillwater is nice but the sleeves are too tight, Vindur was too short…. There’s also the time factor. I have made a bunch of sweaters, but many of them are samples sent back to the yarn companies for display. Also, I feel it’s easier to pick up a skein of sock yarn and know I have a potential project than to pick up a sweater quantity of yarn (4 – 8 skeins, depending) for which I really want to have a plan in mind. I would love to focus my projects on sweaters in the next year.
