FO Friday Summit Shawl

image

I am so proud of my FO Friday project this week. The Summit Shawl is finished! Ends are woven in, blocking magic happened, and it has been mailed back to Good Karma Farm! I love the finished product. To sum-up: I used just under two skeins of Good Karma Farm Sportweight in the Shark Juice colorway. This is the third project I have made in this yarn and it won’t be the last. It is lightweight, yet warm, and blocks beautifully! Look for their booth at Rhinebeck and give the yarns a squish and add them to your stash; they are on my “must-see” list!

I started this project in late spring and unfortunately it took way longer than I anticipated. I do not like to fall short on any expectations and I am thankful that Good Karma Farm had a great deal of patience with me on this project. Don’t get me wrong, the pattern is fine. I just couldn’t get in to a groove – on average each row is only 11 stitches, and each section was maybe 6 rows before you would increase the stitches, drop your stitch, and then move on to the next 11. Apparently I can’t count to 11. Or 6. For me that meant I could only work on this when I could focus and have the space to have my phone and the StitchMinder app open (God Bless Touch Screen technology). It was very slow going for me.

This FO is a really nice shoulder wrapper, and I could see a possible modification to maybe stitch the ends of the rectangle together to make a large loop wrap, or a funky shawl pin to keep it together. I did think it stayed nicely on my shoulders, so a shawl pin isn’t necessary. I did swatch for gauge on this and ended up hitting it on teeny needles (1s or 2s, now I forget). In retrospect I think I could have used a US4 or US5 even and a lovely fabric would have resulted.

Happy I Love Yarn Day! My your yarn stash be ever in your favor!

    1. I have had some sample knit projects where I was sad to see them go. I enjoy it because I get to try new projects and yarns! I’m hoping to see this one “in the wild” at Rhinebeck! 🙂
