Ready to send off to Chicago for the Little Hats, Big Hearts campaign! I made 12 red hats, also meeting the Sunset Family Living NICU Challenge. Nice way to use up some of the red acrylic and cotton in my stash, and I continued to work on my crochet skills. I ended up with a mix of preemie and newborn sized hats, a few are very basic and a few challenged me a bit. All were enjoyable to make and I hope they make the parents smile! Here are the patterns I used:
- Newborn Hat & Bow Crochet Pattern (mine is minus the bow part)
- Bulky Rolled Brim Newborn Hat – knit
- Ten Minute Crochet Preemie Hat – takes me about 20 minutes, I’m working on it
- Newborn Top Knot Hat – Crochet
- Snowflake Beanie from Sincerely Pam
- Textured Turban from Charmed by Ewe
- Baby Hearts Hat from Hands Occupied
These hats were a challenge for me to photograph – the color was always off, and they are so wee they don’t fit on many of the toys. I didn’t want to stage them with fruit and I find it weird to use baby dolls as hat models. So flat it is. Mostly, until I found my kids Itty Bitty Superheroes. Thank you Batman and Wonder Woman. This was the picture I shared to Instagram.
There’s a new link up in town: Freshly Finished Fridays!
those are fantastic!! This reminds me that I’ve been meaning to contact our local hospital to see if they are interested in hats for newborns … thanks for the reminder! 🙂
cute hats, well done
I admit I did not enjoy making this hat simply because I had to use a round needle (9 inch) …..do not want to use double point needles…..and it was not very easy when you get to the end (top of hat). I wander if there are “heart” hats that I could crochet. The pattern given here doesn’t work to knit flat…..at least I don’t think so.
