Over the last few weeks, several friends shared pictures of mermaid blankets with me. They are adorable, no doubt. I love all things ocean related, including mermaids, so why not give it a go? For my project, I used the Bulky & Quick Mermaid Blanket pattern from MJ’s Off the Hook Designs. A bit of stash diving brought up acrylic yarns, Red Heart Jeweltones & Patons Canadiana, that paired well enough together. I started the preschool size to see what the pattern was like, and really enjoyed how quickly it worked up. Three days later and voila, mermaid blanket done!
The best part? When Lorelai spotted it the next morning and said, “Mom, did you make a mermaid?! I want one!” Nice. Obviously, she’s taller than this preschool one, so for her I would probably do some measuring before deciding on making the child size or adult size version. I am quite confident that I still have enough acrylic in stash to make either or even both of those sizes, though the colorway might not be her first choice. I will be waiting on casting on though, she did just get a new blanket.
You know I love this! So, so fun. And I cannot believe how quickly you worked that up!!
Oh my goodness! My daughter loves mermaids. I must track down this pattern!
