Reading wise, I’m still working my way through Mary Poppins and still think she’s a tough cookie! We had a small trip last week and picked up a Junie B. Jones audio book for the car ride. Last summer we listened to a few of the stories in the car and both kids liked them, so it was an easy choice to do it again. I am undecided if I will count these audio books as part of my books read this year. Two new books arrived as well: Mini Skein Knits and Kids’ Knitting Workshop. I’ve had my eye on the mini-skein book for a while now and could see making a few items from it. I really like that the yarn used in the book runs between the Lion Brand Bon-Bon Minis and the Madelinetosh Unicorn Tails. My daughter picked up her knitting again and mentioned she wished there was a book like the Cooking Class book she received for her birthday. Of course my ears perked up at that and thought this book might be just right. I’m hoping to report back with a better review of each of these in a few weeks.
The sample knit is finally finished and sent off! Last night I had a little bit of a winding party and enjoyed getting to work on new projects. The green and white is the start of a Christmas stocking for my husband. I’m using the Family Portrait patterns and Cascade 220. The plan for this year is to make one for my husband, each kid, and myself. It should be ok, and not overwhelming, as long as I pace myself. I started on the car ride over the weekend and am pleased by the work so far. Last night I started my Spiral Cowl for the yarnathon KAL, that project is just about ready for the picot hem and then on to the spiraling. I’ve also started Cream, a pair of sportweight socks, for a sock group KAL on Ravelry. Half of one cuff is done so it’s not very interesting at the moment. Here’s to maintaining the forward momentum!
I really love that shade of green!
I thought about making stockings for my family this year too. your pattern is way to complicated for me though. it looks great! I love a picot hem…..so pretty. I’m supposed to be making a pair of socks too for a KAL but I just cast on for a cardigan and can’t seem to put it down…ha! have a great week
I love your project bag! You’re being very organised with your Christmas knits, I need to employ that tactic for this year I think! đŸ™‚
Doing multiple stocks sounds like a lot of knitting, but you do have almost a year! And they look like a fun pattern!
All of your starts look fab – I love the colour of the stocking particularly and it’s a great idea to pace yourself.
