I love polka dots. They seem to be everywhere and then nowhere, but I think they are a classic. I don’t polka-dot all the things, all the time though they always catch my eye. I will indulge in a good polka dot item: these sneakers I finally tracked down, pajama pants, socks, and so on. I’d really like several polka dot items from my pinterest board – that’s a My Style generic board. I should really make a board just for the polka dots. In the meantime, my current WIP involves polka dots! At Rhinebeck this year I picked up a kit to make the Solitude Dots Hat. I was wearing my silly hat while chatting with the lovely Solitude Wool person (sorry, I’m totally forgetting her name!) and she mentioned that there would be enough yarn in the kit to also make a pompom to top off the hat. Polka dots and a pompom? SOLD.
Completely selfish knitting and I want to wear this hat now. The wool is 100% Montdale, a new-to-me fiber. It is soft, not scratchy, and reminds me of the sheep you get to pet at a county fair. It really feels sheepy. I think it’s really great that on the Solitude Wool website, it states that this wool is from Saffer’s Montadales in Warwick, Maryland. I’m enjoying knitting with it and given the current weather forecast I’ll be able to get a lot of use out of a new hat!
In looking for other polka-dot things, I came across this print. I don’t watch the show it’s from but the sentiment is spot on. (pun intended).
Love it! I do all those things too. Look forward to seeing the polka dots when they are finished.
