Last night I finished Love Anthony. The story is certainly heart-squeezing and I thought her portrayal of Anthony (the autistic boy / boy with autism) was unique. The story moments from his point of view made me think, but the rest of the story was sort of meh. I didn’t cry or weep while reading this one, but it seems to have that impact on a lot of readers. I had a moment of panic after I finished it – I don’t have my next read ready! Sure, my house is full of books (many of which I haven’t read), but I didn’t have a plan of what to read next. I spent a few moments scrambling over ebook options through the library website. Hopefully one I requested will be available soon. Or I’ll be able to make a quick stop in to the library to pick up something!
My knitting this week has included a baby gift (in the awesome Stitched by JessaLu wedge bag, isn’t it adorable – pencils on the outside and the inside fabric is cats / dogs / books!), the sample knit project (maybe 25 rows to go!), and the Ebb Tide Hat (less than 20 rows to go!).
Over the weekend I was trying to catch up on blog stuff and I saw this mentioned twice, on two different blogs: the 2015 Reading Challenge on Modern Mrs. Darcy. I’m a bit late to the game, but I’ve pinned similar things (Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge anyone?). I really like the idea of a challenge and I especially like the flexibility of this one. The group Pinterest board is genius as well, just a quick peek scrolling through and I added several books to my “Want To Read” shelf on Goodreads!
Do you feel the same way? What was the best book you read last year?
Oh wow, that Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge is intense! My goal this year is just to get back to reading every night again and get back in the habit. So I’m starting with my favorites, thriller crime mysteries. But I really need to do something like this to FINALLY read all those classic books!
So I checked out the challenge and think I’ll do that one…I like the flexibility of the categories….and I love Jessalu’s bags…I have many…:-) for some reason I’ve been drawn to memoirs lately, read three in a row..Glass Castle, Chinese Cinderella and Girls of Tender Age….the last one is a memoir of growing up in Hartford. It was pretty good….I just started Kate Morton’s latest…I really like her books…
Unless I really can’t get into a book and leave it, I tend to think whatever I’m reading at the moment is the best book I’ve read. A particular favorite, though, was Frog Music. I made up reasons to walk on the treadmill so I could keep reading!
