Time to start over

I cast on for a Yoke O’clock this week. This Alegria, in all it’s neon awesomeness that is Locura Fluo, has been caked up and ready to go for a long while. For a project to go up on the wall, not just peeking out from between my jeans and my slippers, I thought it would be a good idea to tone it down ever so slightly with a grey.

The beginning was so fun! Fiddly, but fun.

As it grew, I could tell this wasn’t the best choice of colors.

I tried the trick of taking a photo, then taking out the saturation (reducing the saturation?), so it appears black and white to check for contrast. Look at that, those two yarns are just too similar. Maybe in a different colorwork pattern it would be fine, think hat with larger shapes for the colorwork? Time to start again.

There’s a nice pair! The white is a white I’ve lost or misplaced the label. It’s a sock yarn. The darker one is “Colleen’s Summer Storm” by Western Sky Knits on their Magnolia Sock Base. It’s got the most beautiful range of blues. And look how awesome it is for the Yoke O’Clock!

That’s much better. At this point, I’m just shy of being halfway through the chart. I’m really enjoying this project and hope to finish it up, complete with clock parts soon!
