I think it is hard to deny the appeal of hats. Whether you knit or crochet, hats work up quick in just about every weight of yarn! In my years of fiber adventures, I have made classic hats, wild hats, baby hats, ugly hats, wee hats, themed hats, and simple hats. This week’s WIP Wednesday projects include a commissioned knit project and part of a Halloween costume. The knit-for-hire project is a Failynn Fox hood/cowl in wolf grey colors. The inside of the ears is a white sparkle yarn. I have a bit of crochet to do on this piece, attach the ears and then I can send it off! The Halloween costume you can probably guess. My daughter wants to be Elsa, the snow queen from Frozen, so why not? I remember when I was 6 I was a Strawberry Shortcake character. This is the time to do it, so she shall be a queen this year, not just a princess. We purchased a dress and I found this fantastic hat pattern from Adorkable Crochet. The hat is a bit snug on her head so I maybe should have added a few more stitches there; for one or two times to wear it for the costume she’ll be fine. I have a few finishing details (secure the braid, add snowflake buttons) so that is super close to being finished. The pattern is great and I could see making it again. I purchased the bundle, thinking I might make an Anna hat for me. Haven’t started that yet, but there’s still time!
