Seriously August, slow down. I have to say that I was dreading August a bit – looking at it back in June there was a lot of empty space on the calendar, kids would be out of camp, and I knew that work would be picking up. There are a handful of days left in the month! I don’t have a whole lot to show for it here, but I hope that means in a few weeks time I will have lots of finished items to share!
This week I worked on my Camp Loopy Project #3 – And the Beat Goes On. I’m really enjoying this, it’s turning into a very squishy tube that will be a super warm and cozy scarf / cowl. It is a project I think is awesome, based on an awesome idea of a pattern, inspired by my totally awesome niece. (And She’s truly amazing. Maybe a bit outrageous – she’s 2.)
I also swatched for two new projects. Mostly because I thought the idea of a swatch grudge match was funny, and the first project to get gauge would get to live in my new project bag. I spotted this fabric in a different bag on Instagram, sent a message to the lovely seamstress on Ravelry and pretty much told her to just “Take my money”! Fast forward a week or so and I have this amazing bag from That Clever Clementine. Who won the gauge grudge match? It’s a draw. I was successful with both. The magenta yarn is Mrs. Crosby Satchel, to be a Hitofude, and the brown is Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage, for a Kram Cardi CAL. I’m looking forward to working on each, both for the eat.sleep.knit yarnathon. The CAL will be my first crochet garment, clues come out weekly, I should be able to handle that. My other motive for starting these was in preparation for an upcoming road trip.
As far as reading, I have another new book! A digitial copy of Yes Please arrived via interlibrary loan so I made my peace with the Goldfinch and returned it unfinished. At the end of this year I am going to have to tally how many books I read with how many books I didn’t finish, wonder how that would pan out?
Hi there! I am just popping over from the yarn along! This is a great idea for a scarf, it looks really great – very unique! Very artistic too.
That sweater makes me wish I could crochet!
I also did not finish Goldfinch. Too long, too slow.
I have Amy’s book on Audible, too, and I am not loving it. I’d rather watch reruns of P&R!
I didn’t realize (until reading this post) that that gorgeous cowl was Violet-inspired — now I love it even more! Seriously, amazing color story and of course I love that the squiggly line is a heartbeat — so, so awesome! xo
