I’ve missed posting in this blog, so I’m trying to get back to the routine of it this year. Why not start with a few FOs? Once again I’m participating in EatSleepKnit’s Yarnathon and I’m a member of Team Merino Mice. Did you know a group of mice is called a mischief?
Quarterly Craft Along: Q1 Brioche
The first quarterly craft along featured brioche stitches. I’ve knit a cowl and a capelet style project in brioche before, but forgot most of how it goes. I stuck with relatively straightforward projects: two hats, a neckwarmer, a cowl, and a scarf.
First, the Super Simple Bulky Brioche Crossover (free on Ravelry), was super quick in Lorna’s Laces Cloudgate. It’s too bad this yarn is discontinued, it’s so lightweight and warm. The Waistcoat color is a fabulous teal. This project was a special request knit for my mom.
I test knit The Niefling Hat for Carissa Browning. The brim is double knit with the hat body and crown knit in brioche. Ultra reversible! The yarn is Alice DK from Wonderland Yarns and Frabjous Fibers in White Rabbit and Between the Lines.
The Pianta Hat in Blue Sky Fibers Woolstock Worsted. Lavanya Patricella is a wealth of so many brioche patterns! Choosing just one was a challenge.
Two skeins of Manos del Uruguay Alegria Grande (Manglar + Foil) worked up into a super cozy Askews Me Dickey by Stephen West. I think this one will get a bit of wear next winter!
Lastly, my biggest project for Q1, the Byberry Scarf. Starting with four contrasting colors of Manos del Uruguay Fino, not five as in the pattern, resulted in a modification of length. It’s plenty long, 56″ x 7″ wide unblocked. My main color is Fascinator with Silver Teaset, Mourning, Inkwell, and Stormglass as contrasts.
Quarterly Craft Along: Q2 Indie Only
I’m a long-time stasher of Indie-dyed yarns from EatSleepKnit. Much of the stash is single skeins, so my list of projects to make this quarter is ambitious! I’m expecting multiple hats, a steeked kid sweater, socks, and maybe a shawl or a short-sleeved tee.
