A New Color Story Emerges

Nutmegknitter's WIPs

I have several projects that suitable to share this week. Enough work has been done on each that they are out of the blob phase. I was surprised when I pulled these projects together to see that they all sort of go together color-wise, and not one of the colors is blue! The stripey rectangle at the top with the white zig-zag is an And the Beat Goes On cowl, my third Camp Loopy project for this summer. The original pattern I thought was very impressive. This is a pattern with high impact but is certainly an easy knit once you get going. The yarns are Fiber Nymph Dye works Self-Striping in Cloudy with a Chance of Cherry Blossoms  and Malabrigo Mechita in Natural. In the lower left is a hat for Lorelai. The pattern is Coldstream and the yarn is Tosh Vintage in the Lepidoptra colorway (both her choice). I just couldn’t get through the last of the crown decreases last night, but soon enough. It’s not like the August weather will be suitable for a hat. And the third project that has received my attention this week is the Little Arrowhead Shawl in Mountain Meadow Wool Mountain Blend. I love this yarn and I think it will be just right as a small shawl to keep with me at a mid-September wedding.

To Be Read PileThis was my pile of reading last week. I started and finished Go Set a Watchman, and really enjoyed it. I went in to it knowing about the less than stellar reviews and tried to read it just as another book. I want to reread To Kill a Mockingbird again, and I feel like this is the sort of book I would like to read in an English class or something where someone can explain parts to you.  I’m looking forward to starting the Goldfinch next and taking a closer look at the Knit Wear Love book.

  1. So many projects with great yarn choices! I really want to try Tosh vintage in my next project. I have Go set a watchman in my library queue along with to kill a mocking bird but I think everyone in my town had the same idea because the wait-list is super long!!

  2. Your knits are lovely. They do all go together color-wise. I’m finding myself knitting my second blue and gray item in a month’s time. And I did it without realizing it, too!

  3. I love all those colors! Gray is one of my favorites, but I wouldn’t have thought of pairing it with purple. I’ll have to rethink that after seeing your pretty WIPs….

  4. It is funny how coordinated your projects are. All such pretty colors. I’ve had Little Arrowhead in my queue for a while so I’m interested in how you like the pattern.

I can’t make up my mind about Watchman. Thanks for weighing in!
