Yarn: Today’s yarn is deep stash. This is a skein of From the Wool Room in “Clematis Vine”, handmade by Lori, as a swap present for me in 2008. It is 100% Targhee Wool, 375 yards. I received this skein ages before I tried spinning and this is a highly respected skein. Handspun yarn deserves a special project! Possibly, I could use this yarn in combination with something else to work up today’s pattern!
Pattern: In winter, I prefer to wear fingerless gloves (aka flittens) instead of mittens. This is purely a functional choice, as having my fingers available to grip the steering wheel, find a tissue for a kid, fix something for the kids, and so on, is much quicker and easier if I don’t have to pull off the mitten. After the last few winters though I can say I have a new appreciate for mittens – mom was right, they do keep your hand warmer! I would love to make myself a pair of Fiddlehead Mittens, designed by Adrian Bizilia. I love how they have the inner mitten liner too so there would be no snagging your hands / nails / rings on the colorwork portion.
That yarn is beyond beautiful!
Ha. Flittens! Love that. I clicked over here on the basis of your blog name alone. That is a beautiful yarn, that Clematis Vine. Cheers!
Those mittens look gorgeous and love the stash yarn.
Love the yarn! I have been admiring that pattern for a while – hope you do make some so I can have a look!
