For all the hype for “Blizzard 2015”, I was happy to wake up to see snowfall amounts that were way less than forecast! We still have 15-18″ of snow, shoveling to do, and the kids are going on their second day with no school. The power stayed on, the local plow guy was here early in the morning and the town plows came by with a bit more regularity. While annoying, it’s fine. And still pretty.
I am really glad that I grabbed two books when I went to the library last week after not having something else to read, because last night I finished Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean at the End of the Lane! It was shorter than I expected it to be, but the story has such a depth to it. I enjoyed it, and found it mesmerizing. This is a book to truly be enjoyed and not rushed – when I read to fast I found myself having to back up and reread to visualize the descriptions. I could see this story being turned into a movie, if it’s done right! I am about to start Amy Bloom’s Lucky Us. I have had this book on my mental “to-read” list since last year, so I was happy to spot it on a library display.
This week I have been continuing to knit on a baby gift (in the pencil bag). I started a project for the Headgear KAL in the eat.sleep.knit yarnathon: a Molly Hat in Juniper Moon Farm Moonshine yarn. I was inspired by the hat Amanda (aka SewKnitPicky) shared in her KnotAPodcast (episode 100 I think? I’m still catching up on podcasts). I am halfway through my Sally Snowflake and hopefully should be able to get the second half done today or tomorrow!
Did you notice there is one more book in the pile? I received a copy of From Folly Cove by Julia Farwell-Clay and am Thursday’s stop on the blog tour! I hope that you’ll check back for the prizes, discounts and giveaway details!
Molly is such a fun knit!
Did the blizzard slow down your news on Folly’s Cove? Tomorrow is your day, right?,
Tomorrow (Thursday, Jan 29) is my day! I drafted a post and scheduled it ahead of the blizzard, just in case! We didn’t loose power, so I’m able to make a few last minute edits and I hope you’ll check it out tomorrow! 🙂
Good to know you’re on the other side of the blizzard now AND you had something to read! I read Lucky Us a few months ago and loved it!
I’ve heard so much about Neil Gaimen, but have yet to read any of his books….officially, we got less than 10 inches….we had school today, but the roads were still kind of crappy, even when with a 2 hour delay…
Oh, that Molly will be fab! I’ve had that pattern in my queue for ages! Can’t wait to see yours!
Glad to hear you aren’t completely socked in. Looks like you have plenty of knitting and reading to keep you company
