FO Friday Sam’s Puppy and Blanket

This week, the two projects I am sharing have been off the needles for a while. They were a baby gift and I didn’t feel it was right to share until the little guy arrived! My cousin had her baby boy last week and these were made for him.

Nutmegknitter's Baby blanket and puppyI made the Baby Squared Baby Blanket using two skeins of Encore Colorspun Worsted. This is my favorite go-to baby project! The blanket is the perfect size, in my opinion, to tuck in to the car seat or stroller, or to cover up a snuggling baby on you without totally causing you to overheat. Especially with summer babies, you might like the breeze of the air conditioning or fresh air but not them. This is lightweight, warm, and washable. I really feel like a pattern ambassador, this is the 4th time I’ve made this pattern, and not just because I know the designer – I really enjoy knitting this project. The feather and fan patterning works well with the color shifts in the Colorspun yarn too.

The puppy is Amy Gaines’ Puppy Pattern, in assorted Spud & Chloe Sweater. I was trying to match the puppy colorways to my cousin’s dog. I think I came fairly close. The collar is made with a bit of leftovers from the blanket. It’s cute and cuddly and hopefully will make my new little cousin smile.

  1. What a darling puppy!! I know he will be well-loved. And I’ll definitely have to check out the baby blanket pattern. I love the feather and fan details and summer babies need wool too 🙂 Thanks for linking up!
