This week for FO Friday, I have my entry for the EatSleepKnit Yarnathon Q3 challenge. The challenge was to knit a pattern that you added to your queue or your favorites during your first year as an active Raveler. For me, that was 2007! I originally queued the Sunflower Tam on June 21, 2007. I love the design aesthetic of Norah Gaughan, all those cables and nature inspiration. I jumped right in on this project, no swatching, and found the twist stitches that make the flower on top to be almost magical. Cables but yet not quite cables in the traditional way you knit them, you know?
Very cool design. The yarn, Juniper Moon Farm Yearling, is a wool/cotton blend, is warm yet light for a bulky yarn, and I do love the color.
However, on me? The hat is too big (my own fault, I didn’t bother to swatch) and I think this is not quite the right style for my hair / head.
I’m ok with that, I will find a way to donate it. I am more of a process knitter over a product knitter I think. How about you? Here’s to successful crafting adventures this weekend!
