Tempting as it is, I’m not going to fill this post with all kinds of clock and time puns. Let’s get straight to it: my Yoke O’Clock is complete!
Even starting over, this was a quick project. It feels like more time was spent getting the clock hands in place.
I picked up the record at the local thrift shop. Without going in to much detail I think I surprised the cashier by telling her “No, I only want this one record, no I didn’t check it for scratches, I’m going to cannibalize it.” I also think this is an album my dad had? Or maybe we had it on a CD. This record also smells exactly the way I remember records smelling when I was a kid. Weird.
I think it looks great on the mantle, though the clock arms are hard to see. I should have painted them, or gone with a gold or silver version. My family has gotten used to hearing the “tick-tock” but it is noticeable when the room is quiet.
Would I make it again? Yes, but maybe not as a clock, simply as wall art or a display piece.
