Friday Favorites

I wanted to blog today and keep my general blogging mojo going (even if I didn’t blog on Wednesday, sorry Dan!), but I am stumped for how to best photograph my current work-in-progress pile. Plus this week my time has been better spent on getting the knitting done, getting my work done, and not worrying about the photos. So today, I thought I would share a few things from around the net that have caught my eye or that I can’t stop thinking about!

Project Gnome Diplomacy: I really want to make a gnome for Project Gnome Diplomacy!

Gnomes!

Louet Spring 2015 KAL: Happening over on Ravelry, the Louet Spring Collection is lovely. I am hoping to join the KAL possibly to knit a Taimi cowl or a Nerine shawl. The shawl may end up being some sort of stripey inspiration because my stash has single skeins of several colorways. Still mulling this one over.

The Lorelai Shawl: A new design from Shannon Cook, aka VeryShannon. I am in love with the Purples set that Nice and Knit have put together. That is the one my daughter, who is a Lorelai, would love. The Green set is also highly appealing.

Frothy Milk – I noticed a few items on my Pinterest boards for DIY lattes at home, but I don’t have a milk frother. I found an easy solution thanks to TheKitchn and it really works! This particular latte was not all that wonderful, but that’s ok. I impressed myself with the milk.

I also got a peek at the photos of a few of the recent sample knits I completed. I’m so excited to see those patterns published and I’ll be sure to share them here when I can!

  1. Thank you for explaining why people are suddenly knitting gnomes! I knew I had to be missing something.
And thanks for the milk-frothing link. I’ve been working hard to resist buying a milk frother — and now I can give up on that idea.

    1. You’re welcome! I also saw mention that IKEA had a cheap ($3?) milk frother that worked really well. That was going to be my backup, but I haven’t gone there in a long while. The microwave / mason jar totally worked!

  2. First off, I’m dying to knit a gnome…I should just get on with it 🙂 Should be a great way to use up a few extras, right? And then the Loralei shawl? You are in my mind! And the milk frothing at home? Genius! I worked at Starbucks for a little more than a year and I miss the fancy espresso machine and milk steamer I had access too, and I so dislike paying so much for a cafe au lait or misto…plus I always liked to make them in a particular way 🙂 This tutorial is brilliant! Thank you for sharing and don’t hesitate to cast on! Can’t wait to see your sample/test knits!!
