It’s been another long stretch, eh? I think maybe now is as good as any to give blogging another go. At the very least, it’s a good record of my projects.
Work in progress Wednesday
I have two in-progress projects to share and both will eventually earn yardage for me and my team in the EatSleepKnit Yarnathon. This year, I’m proud to be part of the flamingo Flamboyance, Team Fiber Flock.
The first quarter project theme is Mosaic knitting. Mosaic knitting uses a slip-stitch colorwork technique, not all slip-stitch colorwork is mosaic. Last year was my first real go at mosaic, when I knit a Trinus Shawl as a sample for Crabapple Yarns. I decided for this quarterly project I’d make a Shift Cowl with Kauni, thinking the rainbow gradient would work in my favor, and Fino to give it a little bit of softness.
I’m using the inside of the ball as color A, the silver Fino is color B, and the outside of the ball is color C. I am very curious how it will proceed as I get to that orange-yellow section and I am wondering if maybe I should have just gone with a two color version instead of trying to make it three.
This process is enjoyable and not too taxing, but I do have to pay attention. And the yarn can get a bit tangled working both ends at the same time. I am almost at the halfway point before I start decreasing for the other half of the cowl.
Test Knitting in progress
My other active WIP is a test knit for the EatSleepKnit Pattern Academy; I’m a Purler! I’m working on a beanie hat by Ash Christine. Can’t go wrong with a hat and cables, and of course, sparkle! The yarn is Western Sky Knits Twinkle Sock in Quasar. I used about half of this yarn in a different test knit (a PB Sandwich hat by Shanalines Designs) and I should have just enough.
I’ll be pushing to get these projects done. I have yarn incoming, specifically for projects that I want to start right away!
