Looking for Color

Do you ever feel desperate for color? Where I live, by the time March rolls around you start to see a few daffodils or snowdrops here and there. It has just been too cold for too long and the piles of snow are not going anywhere fast. Today we were met with another few inches of wet snow, but the temperature is mild, so there is melting (yay) and now it’s slushy and even more grey, which I wasn’t sure was even possible. I also have a window that is leaking thanks to the melting and ice dams. My son asked where the grass was because he missed the grass. Me too buddy. As I posted on Monday, I’m ready for something new and different, kill winter with orange and all that.

Sproutlette Dress held by Dinosaur

Working on the wee Sproutlette Dress is so much fun and brings in a good shot of color! The top bodice part of the dress is finished and I am increasing for the skirt.

Warm All Winter in progress on Jackson

I am about halfway through the Warm All Winter hood/cowl by Cat Bordhi. She kindly offered this pattern for free a few weeks back and I snatched it up. I love the idea and at that point I figured if I made it and was ready for more Arctic blasts and polar vortexes then they might not happen. Perhaps I should have knit on it more, but I did have a sample knit project to finish up! I’m using Madelinetosh Tosh Chunky in the Cherry colorway. It is nice and squishy!

Ocean Air Scarf beginnings

In yesterday’s mail I received a skein of Mountain Colors Twizzle. The colorway is Cornflower, but to me it is more of a Caribbean sea and the ocean. As much as I love snow in winter, I think I might love the beach even more. I have plans to immediately put this yarn to use in an Ocean Air Scarf. I have trouble resisting a theme, I spotted this Stitched By JessaLu bag sitting near my desk, lighthouses on the outside / lobsters on the inside, it’s perfect!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Glasses

When the sun comes back we need glasses like this to protect against the snow glare. I am slowly making my way through Candy. I have learned candy is complicated. I still find it irresistible. I keep thinking of one of my favorite lines from the Charlie & The Chocolate Factory movie:

“Why is everything here completely pointless?” – “Candy doesn’t have to have a point. That’s why it’s candy.”
