My second assignment for Loopy Academy is done! The project requirements were to make a cowl in a multi-colored (defined as 2 or more distinct colors in the same skein) or self-striping Fingering weight colorway. I decided on the Irish Mesh Cowl (a suggested pattern) in the Plied Light colorway of Peppino, part of the Yarns of Rhichard Devrieze. I used every last bit of this yarn and lost a game of yarn chicken. I made it work by leaving out a row or two of the seed stitch border and I had to rely on a bit of crochet cast-off. It all worked out I think. I gave it a very quick run under an iron with steam to flatten it a bit, otherwise the edges roll in. This cowl is light-weight, warm, and I know I will be wearing it a lot this winter! The length is just right where I could wear it as one bigger long loop or doubled up as in the picture above. My last assignment is a pair of mittens – I wonder if Jackson will be a willing model for those?
