I don’t think of myself as a shawl knitter, though they are projects that I make most, after socks. My preference is the yarn is sock weight or heavier, and I’m not too particular on shape as I wear them bandit style, scrunched up around my neck.
Shawl 1: We Belong Together
This was a test knit for Shannon Squire using Northbound Knitting MCN DK in Oleander and Knitted Wit Victory DK in Invasive Invaders (a HERstory colorway). I’ve been wearing this one a lot, it’s not too bulky, but warm, and goes nicely with my grey coat. Pink is not one of the colors I gravitate towards, but there is something compelling about a highlighter pink. Totally appropriate for a shawl named for a Pat Benatar song, right?
Shawl 2: Dark Comfort
Wordplay will get me every time. Like nail polish colors, yarn colors that have a good name will get my attention over a color number. This is the Dark Comfort pattern crocheted in Knitted Wit Victory DK Alternative Facts and She Persisted. I ran short of Alternative Facts and was hesitant to bring in another color. Lorajean, the dyer behind Knitted Wit, assured me that She Persisted would play nice and I have to say, I do like how there is a shift from dark to light.
