This week has a little bit of everything! I started a new cross stitch project, have been swatching for a new sample knit, and a selfish knit in progress. I also worked on the tube socks for Lorelai and finished them. The sample knit is for Good Karma Farm, using their new sport weight yarn, and Summit Shawl is the planned project. Right now I’m getting 24.5 st / 4 inches on a US4 and the pattern calls for 32st / 4 in, so yeah, I’m off. I like the fabric on the 4s though. My selfish knit is a Tink Tank by Megan Williams. I ended up getting gauge with some Classic Elite Premiere that has been in my stash for a while. The cotton / tencel blend is nice to knit with and has a touch of shine. The back bodice is done and I’m ready to do the straps.
My reading mojo has returned too. Through the wonder of inter-library loan, I picked up The Yarn Whisperer by Clara Parkes. It’s already been returned to the library, excuse the lack of photo. So many of the comparisons that Clara shared really struck me in a “Yes! That’s it exactly!” sort of way and I should remember them when talking about knitting to non-knitting / non-fiber people. The book is light and easy to pick up and put down (but you won’t want to), perfect for summer reading. I started Gone Girl while the kids were having breakfast this morning, meaning to get in a few pages just so I can say truthfully I started it…. 50 pages later, I’m having a hard time putting this book down.
I did not know that she did cross stitch patterns! They are as cute as her stuffy patterns.
If you like Gone Girl, try her earlier books. I think they are even better! Especially Sharp Objects.
