WIP Wednesday Something Old Something New

Colorful pile of projects

This week I pulled out the Rainbow Blanket for my daughter to work another color stripe and then some. Might as well work on a blanket while the air conditioner is running right? I’ve also got my yarn ready for two more projects! I’m in a sweet spot right now – the next Camp Loopy project doesn’t start until August 1 – and currently have no sample knits, so the tendency is to go a bit wild and cast on all the things. I’ve got a skein of Tosh Vintage in Lepidoptra to make a hat for my daughter, and the skein of Dream in Color Smooshy in Dusky Aurora to make a Faux-chet cowl for the Knitter’s Pride KAL with Laura Chau. I’m borrowing the Jennifer Weiner book and dove right in, love her writing. This particular storyline strikes a chord, and I’m interested to see where it goes. Yesterday’s mail brought me the Color Knitting Techniques and I can’t stop flipping through it! I’ll share my review of it next week or so when I’ve had some time to digest it.

Mountain Meadow Wool Mountain Blend in progress

I also have worked a little bit on a Little Arrowhead shawl for me. I’m about 18 rows in, taking my time on this project and savoring working with the new Mountain Meadow Wool Mountain Blend yarn. This yarn is light and springy, with a wonderful hand. I can imagine that a sweater made from this yarn would be amazing.

Rose City Rollers at the Movies

My Rose City Rollers socks are a half-of-a-foot and the toe away from being done. I like the yarn colorway, but not loving how it feels to knit with. It’s a bit rough on the hand. Maybe I’ve just spoiled myself with MCN sock yarn. These will be nice and I’m pretty sure they will be super durable. They were a perfect project to take with me to an “nostalgic drive-in” outdoor movie night here in town over the weekend!

  1. That rainbow blanket is stunning. I love working with lots of colors like that.
I haven’t read J Weiner yet. It’s on my list, but I tend toward more serious books. Still, her plots always sound intriguing.

    1. Thanks! I would read just about anything J Weiner writes – In Her Shoes was good, so was Good in Bed. This one has me hooked, and is more serious than her others for sure.

  2. I love the colors in the Rainbow Ripple Blanket! I can’t bring myself to work on a blanket right now (even in the air conditioning), but I’m looking forward to making a colorful one once it cools down some.
