Since my daughter is on winter break from school this week, we’ve let her stay up a bit later at night and we all settle down with a book to read. That has helped me finally finish The Rent Collector. I liked the story and the references to how wonderful it is to be able to read and enjoy all the literature around the world. The storyline of The Rent Collector truly reflects the idea that everyone you meet has a story to tell, and everyone has gone through something that has changed them. I get the feeling when I read the posts from Humans of New York. So many people, so many stories! New to the reading rotation this week is Dinos to Go, a new book my son received for Christmas. Sandra Boynton is so great! Last night I started As You Wish. I’m a huge Princess Bride fan (joined the yarn club and have the StitchedbyJessaLu bag!)and this peek at how the movie came to be, from Cary Elwes’ point of view, is simply sweet.
Currently in-progress this week are a modest stack of hats for the Little Hats, Big Hearts drive. I’ve crocheted a few from the Sunset Family Living NICU Challege: Snowflake Beanie and the Textured Turban. Repeat Crafter Me has an adorable Top Knot Hat Pattern that I also made. I just came across this Red Hats for Newborns pattern at Hands Occupied and started it last night. I’ll be sure to take a photo of the hats all finished before I send them off to Chicago!
That books sounds appealing! Red is so vibrant:)))
I love Princess Bride too – will have to check out that book!
I love your cup! My teenage daughter and I both loved the movie, but I found the book kind of dry.
Love all your knitting ideas, Happy New Year!
Your books sound fun and your hats are sweet, I love the cheery red! Happy new Year!
I love the cup! I got a mug for my husband this Christmas that says “Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You drank my coffee. Prepare to Die.” I am wondering what the club and bag are? Is it Princess Bride related?
Earlier this year, I joined the Mad Color Fiber Arts club – it was a 3 month yarn club with colorways inspired by The Princess Bride movie and included the custom Stitched By JessaLu bag in the Princess Bride themed fabric. Here’s a link if you want to check out other clubs and yarn by Mad Color Fiber Arts: http://madcolorfiberarts.com/
Awesome! Thanks!
I love to knit hats they are quick and easy!!
Love the book recommendation for As You Wish, I will be looking for it. However, there is a Princess Bride yarn club?! Why did I not know about this? Is it too late to join it?
Well, the one I was in took place last year. I did just see that at Jimmy Beans Wool they have some Lorna’s Laces in Princess Bride Colorways!! http://www.jimmybeanswool.com/knitting/yarn/LornasLaces/Cloudgate.asp?showLarge=true&specPCVID=61844
