AtoZ Challenge K is for

Hi there! Thanks for reading today’s post! I wanted to also let you know that I’ve got a guest post up over on handmade by stefanie, as part of her Take 5 series – I’m thrilled to be a part of it! And now, back to the to Blogging AtoZ Challenge – K is for…
K is forYarn: I have admired Knitterly Things for a long time and last year I really got into self-striping sock yarns. Today’s yarn is one I stashed up last year during a flash sale on Instagram. Instagram has enabled many a yarn purchase for me and at the very least has introduced me to several new indie dyers that I have on a mental bucket list of “Yarns I want to try”! This colorway is the “Rainbow Oops” because somehow it is imperfect –“I flubbed a dyelot of my ever-popular Rainbow Love (a thing I almost never do!) and this lot got a dark navy blue stripe instead of gin bottle blue.”  I can’t tell the difference and I love this skein so much. It is a CDH yarn – if you wanted to take it away from me, you’d have to pry it from my cold, dead hands. Seriously.

Pattern: Of all the yarn in my stash, I am pretty sure the bulk of it is sock weight. Sock yarn usually comes in around 400 yard hanks and for $25-$30 per hank to have enough yardage for a variety of projects is a pretty good deal. I do enjoy using sock yarn for non-sock projects: HeartCats, hats, small shawls, fingerless mitts and hexipuffs for that lifetime-in-progress-blanket. The Knick pattern looks interesting (and it’s free, BTW) and I am curious about the intentional pooling you could manipulate for an interesting color effect! I do have some of the called for, highly-revered Wollmeise in my stash too.  So tempting to start this today!
