AtoZ Challenge L is for

(moment of frustration here – I was doing so well and getting each post up on the right day! Yesterday, well, real life just kept me away from the blog, so L is a day late! It happens.)

l is for Lemonade Shop yarn

Yarn: L is for the Lemonade Shop yarn! This was also a new-to-me yarn that I found via Instagram enabling. This is the Stormy Day colorway, a fantastic grey yarn with a pop of rainbow. The speckled yarns in her shop are so tempting as well – I especially love the I Love Cake colorway! Isn’t this a fun dinosaur? My son loves construction trucks and dinosaurs, so I was thrilled to find the Dinosaur Construction Company products!

Pattern: The Leftovers Cowl always catches my eye – isn’t it great? Even though the colorwork is not terribly difficult (you only use two colors per row), I think it would take me a while to decide on colors. So much of my sock yarn leftovers and minis are highly variegated! I did purchase a Loopy Cakes set from the Loopy Ewe to have a selection of solid background colors. I think this would make a great summer project – lightweight and not too heavy on the lap as you work.

  1. Hi, I too love the Lemonade Shop. Heather is superb to work with and I too bought the I love Cake colorway. In fact I also bought similar colorways from Maegan at the Cyborg’s Craft Room also on etsy. Check that one out too. Since “M” is coming up.

Re the Stormy Day skein, there was something similar in April’s sock yarn offerings on the Three Irish Girls site. I bought the black version.

Here’s my question: do you have any suggestions – other than very advanced Fair Isle as you pictured – to use these speckled yarns? I don’t have a clear picture to show them off in the best light and wondered if you can suggest something.

    Thanks 🙂

    1. Hi Lynn! The cowl only looks complicated (really!) you only ever switch back and forth between 2 colors in a row! I will admit that weaving in the ends intimidates me. I have yet to stash up anything from the Cyborg’s Craft Room but have heard great things about it – thanks for enabling!! I think my speckled sock yarns are going to be either plain vanilla socks or maybe a simple rib sock and I’ll let the yarn speak for itself!

    1. The one pictured here I bought on Amazon! Also the Educational Insights catalog, and I linked to the Dinosaur Construction Co in my post!
