Food for Thought

nutmegknitter's projects and books

This week the knitting has been on these two projects – a hat for me and a sample shawl. There’s not much else to say about them, they are in the “Just Keep Knitting. Just Keep Knitting” phase. Looks a bit like Peas and Carrots, right? Food on the brain all the time around here.  Plus, it’s a new season of eating! The weather is cooler and that makes me want to start baking – muffins, soups, hot suppers… I mentioned in a previous post, I’m not a Pumpkin-head and will easily pass on by all the pumpkin flavored whatevers. My reading material this week continues to focus on food, but I haven’t been won over by anything in particular. Still reading Cooked, and picked up two cookbooks for ideas and inspiration: Weelicious Lunches and The Family Dinner Fix. I wish the Weelicious book had more images of the recipes. My daughter expressed a little bit of interest in other lunch options, but she’s an early reader and can’t quite picture what she’d be getting for lunch. I was not sold on much of anything from the dinner fix book, but that’s ok.

I did make something else this week and here is the WIP shot:
ritz rolo crackers
Maybe you’ve seen these around Pinterest? When I first made them last year I thought they were just ok, but in the days after I made them I developed a craving for them. The Ritz cracker + Rolo candy combo hits the mark on sweet+salty!
