I like a good theme. This week the theme seems to be “Awesome Girls”. I’m knitting an Awesome Girl for a friend on Ravelry. My current pair of in-progress socks I have named “Vigorous Violets” in honor of my niece (who unfortunately is back in the hospital). When I was working the other day, as much as I reveled in the peace and quiet of my kids being back in school, I wanted some background music. I put on Itunes radio and made an Indigo Girls channel, and that reminded me how much I love their music and that of Ani DiFranco, Tori Amos, Dar Williams.
I’ve been reading about a few awesome girls as well. We’re reading Charlotte’s Web with my daughter each night – they are at the big county fair. I started reading the Yarn Harlot’s latest, “The Amazing Thing About the Way It Goes”, I’m enjoying it, especially when she talks about parenting or her sibling being “the fun one” or how she’s great at following rules.
